Reiki is a wonderful technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. After a session, you will feel wonderful, but keep in mind that a healthy life style requires you to take responsibility and do some work on your end. I call this self-care by raising your vibration.
A life free from dis-ease, stress and anxiety requires you to raise your vibration. When your vibration, energy levels and spirits are high, light, happy and peaceful, it is easier to heal and fight off dis-ease. When your levels are low, dark, sad and angry, you create blockages and emotional, mental and physical imbalances may develop over time.
The practice of self-care is important to a healthy life style and I would like to share 7 simple ways that lift my vibrations quickly and help me free myself from "dis-ease" and live a balanced life.
Greet the day with a smile and a positive affirmation. Use phrases like “I can”. Take a negative and see it as a challenge while turning it into a positive. Don’t take yourself or others too seriously. See humor in any situation and find the good in everyone and focus on their light.
Find time to meditate daily. Meditating is like taking a mental vacation. We all need to recharge sometimes during the day even if it’s for only a few minutes. I find that meditating first thing in the morning is a great way to kick start your day and set the mood for a positive vibration. Can't sit still and meditate? Try a walking meditation. Go for a walk and absorb the beauty of nature around you. Listen to the birds chirping, feel the breeze blowing, notice the fragrances around you and stop and smell a few flowers. Just be in the moment and keep your mental "to do" list at home. Yes, walking mindfully and staying in the moment is also a practice of meditation.
Listening to positive uplifting music is one of my favorite ways to raise my vibrations.
Make sure the music you listen to is NOT dark, angry, or filled with negative lyrics. This will instantly lower your spirit and defeat your purpose. Relaxing, soft angelic tunes or spa music are good choices that you can easily download to your phone or computer. I personally love listening to nature sounds, singing bowls and Native American music and find it very positive, uplifting and motivating. Sound is a perfect way to clear your mind and your energy.
4. Connect with Nature
My favorite hobby...gardening, is my most favorite way to lift my vibrations. Digging, planting and pruning helps ground me. I find that I tune out everything and tune in to the nature around me. There is nothing more delightful than seeing a rabbit hopping along, colorful birds filling the air with song and the sweet fragrance of flowers and herbs all around me. Take your shoes off and walk barefoot in the grass or if you are lucky enough to live near water immerse your feet into the water and absorb the earth's energy! Even something as simple as sitting on a park bench will raise your vibrations instantly.
5. Shut Down Technology
We really don’t need to carry that phone with us wherever we go. We don’t have to “like” every facebook post and missing a tweet here and there is not the end of the world. Turn off the TV, log off the computer and suddenly you will find that you have time to “stop and smell the roses", talk with a neighbor, read a book, or start a creative project. Give yourself a technology break, you deserve it!
Start a gratitude journal. No matter what your day brings, you must find something that you are grateful for and acknowledge it. As time goes by you will begin to realize your days are filled with more positives than negatives. You will begin to see the glass is half full rather than half empty!
7. Be the Light
Be a beacon of light for someone. It can be a small gesture, a smile, a shoulder to cry on or an ear that is willing to listen. Offer a word of wisdom, a compliment or a piece of advice. Cheer someone on or cheer someone up. Share your light and spread the light one soul at a time!
